Marin County Environmental Health Housing Program requires permits for all rental housing of 3 units or more in Marin County. The County is divided into eight districts each of which has an inspector who is responsible for responding to complaints and inspecting the housing facilities every two years. The concern of E.H.S. in this area is public health and safety

The purpose of the Housing Program is to ensure safe and healthful shelter for all residents and visitors by ensuring compliance with the requirements for sanitation, ventilation, maintenance, use and occupancy  for apartment houses, hotels and motels under provisions of the State Health and Safety Code.
