Welcome to the Marin County District Attorney's Web Site. Browse around and become acquainted with your District Attorney, the staff, the programs we offer and the community services we provide, as well as the community partnerships we support.

To the Citizens of Marin:

As a Marin prosecutor since October 1978 I have observed the excellent work of its experienced and dedicated staff. Our office has participated in and conducted some of the most complex litigation, as well as undertaken innovative and creative community partnerships to enhance the effectiveness of our prosecution aims and objectives. I aim for our office to provide community leadership and collaborative problem-solving to meet today's needs. The violent and serious offender and the sexual predator will be removed from our community, but those who want help and there is a reasonable expectation for rehabilitation, they need, and it is in our best interest, that they be given the opportunity to change.

As one of the largest law firms in the county I look forward to the daily challenges of running an office whose objective is service to the community and its citizens. Any sense of accomplishment I may personally feel is only the result of having a great staff that succeeds in making Marin the envy of the state for its beauty and the safest metropolitan place to live.

My vision is to enhance victim services by establishing within Marin regional victim service centers, domestic violence rehabilitative efforts through a domestic violence court and continued participation in restorative justice programs. At the same time I will reach out to the Marin community to increase our presence in collaborative programs which build trust and confidence in the justice system and meet the long-term goal of crime prevention. Supporting local, grassroots efforts that educate our young, train the unskilled and give those who have never felt they had a stake in Marin's growth a chance for real buy-in will remove criminal outlets as the means for economic and social advancement.

The Marin District Attorney has taken aggressive steps to address the issues facing the expanding senior Marin population. More can and will be done to stop the victimization of one of our most vulnerable and venerable populations. I intend to seek state legislative assistance in expanding the sorely needed economic investigative resources needed by our law enforcement partners to stop the financial exploitation of the elders.

Excellence and professionalism as well as justice and fair play for the Marin criminal justice system will always be my goal and I will work aggressively, demanding the highest integrity from our staff and law enforcement partners, to achieve that objective. We will never stop learning or stop creating new approaches to succeed.

Sincerely and in Service to the Community,

Edward S. Berberian, Jr.
District Attorney
