Major funding for the Children's Health Initiative has been provided by First 5 Marin Children and Families Commission, the Marin Community Foundation and the County of Marin. Kaiser also makes a major contribution through directly providing comprehensive healthcare to several hundred children.Other funding partners ($25,000 or above)include the CaliforniaKids Foundation and Sutter's Marin General/Novato Community Hospitals. Many other individuals and local businesses havealso contributed to this critical endeavor.
At this time, over 12,000 low-income children and youth are insured through a combination of Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, CalKids and Kaiser Child Health Plan. For more detail see this chart (click to download PDF file).
Your contribution will help keep enrollment open and help us fund serious gaps in coverage...for example, a same day surgery suite for a child requiring anesthesia for major dental work is not covered by CalKids.
We believe that today up to 3,250 children are still uninsured. Only two thirds of these are covered by publicly funded insurance. The remaining 1,250 need your help!
Donations of $250, or greater, may be made to the Children’s Health Initiative Fund of the Marin Community Foundation at: 5 Hamilton Landing, Suite 200, Novato, CA 94949. These donations provide support to or for the benefit of the Children’s Health Initiative Coordinating Committee and its activities in pursuit of its mission.
Donations of less than $250 may be made directly to the CaliforniaKids Healthcare Foundation: 5200 Lankershim Boulevard, Suite 360, North Hollywood, CA 91601. These donations will be used explicitly to fund CalKids insurance.
